O/T Found a kid near death

Post by Country »

I took advantage of the nice weather last Wednesday night and went out for a run along the power lines and through the forest. It's about -5F below with the wind chill, 10:30pm, moonless, and the ground was nothing but solid ice from our last ice storm. Im going along and I hear this faint help, help coming from back in the woods. It turned out to be a fourteen year old kid. He had left his buddies house hours ago and gotten lost trying to short cut it back to his house. He said he had been wandering around for hours. He had lost one sneaker, was froze to the bone but not shivering, and delerious. I tried to walk him back to my truck but he collapsed after a hundred yards. I told him to stay put and ran back to my car. Since the ground and creeks were froze over I was able to drive right up to him. He was unconsious when I got there so I had to drag him into my car. Since he was unconsious I couldn't ask him where he lived so I took him to the local hospital emergency room. I suppose he is allright but he might have suffered frost bite on his one foot. What luck though to be hopelessly lost deep in the woods in the middle of no where late at night and soon to die and then have someone come along. What are the odds?

I'd say that he is very lucky that you found him. What did is parents say about the incident?

In those conditions he probably wouldn't have made it 'till morning.
Sure good to hear a story that turned out for the best!
Congratulations to you for saving him.
Now find out who he is and get him into crossbow hunting so he can learn about the outdoors.

Country, mere words can not express the gratitude his parents felt, the LORD sent you out at night to run in the bitter cold to save this boy.

 WOW. What are the odds? There is no doubt that he would have died if you had not decided to go for a run that night. Your running has already saved a life. I guess it wasn't his time to go.

Did you find out what happened after you dropped him off?

Congrats, that's better than any deer hunting story I've ever read and saving his life is a better reward than anything you could ever hang on the wall.

Country,,
That is a wild!
You saved that young mans life... Good for you, and he is very lucky that you decided to take a run along those power lines...

Along with AW, I'm wondering if you have had any contact with the family yet?

What a great story Country and Thumbs up to you. You surely saved this Lads life.

We lost an older person here 3 days ago. He wondered away from a assisted living home and got disoriented and Passed away in sub zero temps. So sad.
