Older Exocet

Post by bow hunter »

I have an older Exocet that I purchased new back in '94. At the time I believe the recommended bolt and broadhead was a 2117 bolt with a 125 gr. broadhead. That is what I have shot from the bow since purchasing it. This set up has worked well for me, but I understand that 2117's are no longer manufactured. I've noticed that they are becoming ever more increasingly difficult to find. For that reason I am thinking of switching to 2216's. My first question is will I have any problem shooting these bolts from my bow? Second, will the tracetory be much different, and finally can I still shoot 125 gr. broadheads with these bolts?

You should be still abl to buy 2117s at your local pro shop even if its a bare shaft, the pro can cut to 20 " then he or you can fletch them.
2216s are a few gr. heavier but are a good substitute and you would have no trouble with them.

I shoot the 2117 shaft and interchange with 2216 and see no change in point of impact. If my memory serves me correct they are basically the same weight.

2117---2216's

I have been using the 2216's since I have not been conveniently finding the 2117's. I have no problem in the use and have an Exocet that I received in 1994.
I, too shot the 125's at first but changed to 100's and have had good success.
I have always used Thunderheads but have been very interested in all the views about other broadheads.
