serving question ?
serving question ?
what size serving do most of you guys use on the center of a crossbow string , what size do most of you guys use that do all yer own strings, and from trying diff. brands whitch kind do like to use ? tks -Dave.
I use the .036" crossbow serving from Brownell and the .030" from BCY as well as various braided FF. The toughest serving seems to be to me the .030 brown crossbow serving by BCY. It seems like it is impregnated with something like resin or something that makes it feel stiffer and harder than the other stuff. Both BCY and Brownell calls their serving "crossbow serving" Brownell serving is also refered to kite cord serving. I've been thinking about serving a layer of crown serving or dental floss over top of the crossbow serving to increase the durability but haven't had the chance as of yet.

Xbowking,
I have been using ASB centre serving by Angel. With great success on both my target and Excalibur crossbows. Really stuff, slick stuff. Not cheap, but the extra life span of the serving does make it worth it. Also just trying Halo Centre serving, but still a new string so cannot comment of how long it lasts yet.
