O/T Knee surgery

Post by Digger »

Well Tar Heel is home and seems to be healing fine.
well its my turn I'm going into Sunnybrook Hosp early Tuesday morn (6:45am) for a total knee replacement. Hopefully in a few months I can donate my wheelchair, walker and crutches to Toronto Fire Fighters War Vetern's medical equipment loan program.
Any way Wish me luck on this surgery, so I can be hunting in Oct.

My before pic from my accident, and yes it was and is still painfull. :(

Good luck with the op. Doug. Make sure you ask for a "cute" knee.

Well Digger, this up and coming operation is not as bad as some people say. I had a total knee put in Sept. of 03., was out of recovery rm. at 6PM after a ruff night I was walking w/walker by 6PM the next day. I went to my highschool reunion 6wks later and danced. Good luck just do what the PT tell you.

Digger, me and my family will say a prayer for a quick recovery, you are in rough few days. They done mine Mar. 26and had me walking the next morning with a walker, i came home Mar. 29th.
Today I gave up the walker and have not used my cane but a few times
went to doc this morning( without a cane) and he said looks great keep doing what you are doing.

Digger, the bruising around the bottom of the leg was done in my first
session of PT.
There are 30 staples.
Also drove the first time today and climbed on my mower.

Digger,

Good luck and a speedy recovery. I am sure that you will be up and around again in no time, without the pain.

The anesthesia is always the hardest part for me. It's easy to get way too comfortable while you're out.

Stay away from the bright light while you're under. :D
I am getting a spinal epidural (?sp) to knock out the pain below the waist and won't be given general anesthesia. I've lived with this pain for 3 years now, 6 to 8 weeks more won't be too hard
