Ontario cancelled the spring bear hunt a few years ago and don't seem to be in a hurry to restore this hunt. :x

I thought bares[not sure if they were wild or domesticated ] were commonly seen on the beaches in Ontario

SPRING BEAR

Post by SOUP »

FOLKS ,
I just got back from a bear hunt in Manitoba. 7 archers in camp -7 bears.
I was the only hunter using a crossbow . Thanks to Dan Miller I have been using slick Tricks , the bear went only 50 or 60 yards with a really large blood trail .I've shot deer with 12 gauge slugs that didn't have a blood trail that visable .
It was not my biggest bear-in fact I waited until Friday trying to get a color phase-but it didn't happen .NO complaints !Good trip-met 5 hunters from NC & we all had a nice time.
Sandy Rivers Outfitters ( Harry Walker ) run a first class operation-they will see me again for a muzzleloader deer hunt.

spring bear

 The only way we will get a spring bear hunt is if someone convinces the Conservatives that all bears are Liberal, then we will have an open season. Its all politics.

Soup, Congratulations on your Bear. I just got back this past weekend from Bear hunting at Taggart Bay Lodge, Laniel Quebec. I shot a good bear the first night on stand. It did'nt go far ,maybe 25 yds. 125 gr. T-heads, 2219 excalibur bolt and a luminok on the end. My only regrets is that I got out to the stand a little late and did'nt bring the video camera! That would be cool to see all that again ! The luminok lit up and I could easily see the red streak the whole way to the vitals. I'll be back again next year. I would be interested in hunting somewhere that you could take a color phase or a second bear. Do you have any info on your outfitter?
