Airlines and Crossbows
I am planning to take my crossbow with me to Switzerland but I am not sure what the airlines require as I only found instructions for fire arms. Have any of you tried to fly with a crossbow before and can any one tell me what to expect?
I flew to Michigan with mine last season but never out of the country.
Here is my set up
I didn't have any problems however this year I will get a better case.
Too much money in equipment to scrimp on the protection.

I have been using this set-up for the last 5 years. Double gun case and a couple of small pad locks, seems to work well so far.

Thank you to those who sent me photos of their packing method, that was very helpful But it did bring on a couple of more questions.
With the new airline luagge rules, did you have to keep your case unlocked or did they allow you to keep the locks on it?
Did you have to fill out any paperwork for the airlines? Notifiy them of the content of the luagge or anything else like that?
Thank you in advance for all your help, I sure can use it.

You should consult the specific airline you are using for the trip. You will want to ask for specific instructions for the flight out and the flight back. Leaving the country may be different than entering.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I did not have to fill out papers.
I contacted the airline well in advance and told them what I wanted to do.
I left the case unlocked untill it had been inspected.I even had my sheath knife in there.I was just very up front about everything I had and I gave the TSA inspector the key,he locked the case and gave the key back to me and he took the case to the plane.
The new case I am looking at has TSA lock so they already have a key.
