STS for Excalibur

Post by Corvus »

Has anyone seen this?

It says "STS", but I couldn't find any sign of it on the STS site.

I've got an STS on my vertical bow, and I'd definitely be willing to spend that much on one for Excal, too. Just thought I'd check and see if anyone else had tried this particular product out yet and had anything to say first.

That does not look like the one made by the company in Tenn that makes the STS. They actually were/did make some last year. I remember it being posted on this website then.

I wish excal would make a factory mount.
It seems that alot of people would get one.

Also waiting to see if it is adjustable for diferent brace heights. Excalibur staff could clarify our questions?
I'm all for gun control. To me, gun control is putting 2 bullets in the same hole... UNCLE TED

STS for excalibur

Post by Sopchoppy »

They are available from "Ye Olde Archery Shoppe" for $47.99....I bought one today from a local Tennessee bow shop and paid more than that. According to the bow shop, they are next to impossible to find....Well made cast aluminum same color as Vortex rail. It seems Excalibur would sell these as they are a custom fit. Bolts directly to the riser in the factory hole. Has some adjustment with set screw on bottom. Bow shop dude said they had sold all they had and were waiting for more. He said all the Excal users loved it. Haven't shot bow with it yet....

What's the benefit? I've never used an STS before and not sure what is gained here. Is it that it makes the bow more quiet?

Here's what the pkg. says...."It helps to quieten down the bow, relieves limb stress, makes for a smoother-vibration free shot".

Thanks for the update. Have you installed yours yet? I'm just holding out to make sure that the brace height is adjustable before I buy one. Thanks!

STS Link from another Crossbow Forum...............

Hey guys.........Here's a link to the crossbow section from the Monster Bows website. The theory is that the STS will have a negative effect on the limbs: http://www.monsterbows.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2847

We tested a set last year on a Max and they did reduce the sound the bow made, but only for about 50 shots then the rubber bits wore through and noise was louder due to the string slapping into the steel post the rubber sits on. We were considering making them part of our line till that happened.
