O/T Vandals!!

Post by Pydpiper »

Up the road from my house is some well hidden conservation land, connected to that is a rifle range, leased by a muzzleloader club. My son and I shoot there almost daily, we have exclusive permission to use the property to use guns that are not muzzleloaders, I gained that by keeping the place clean and removing the debris left behind by the teenagers that come down to that area in the evenings.
It is no uncommon to find the chain gate pulled down and tire tracks everywhere, but today when we went down the gate was trashed and the punks tore down (drove over) all the shooting rests, garbage cans, and even knocked down the marker posts (25" posts).
I am at my wits end with the damage, it is an absolutely beautiful place to be, shooting or not, and now it is a war zone because some kid wanted to see what he could put his truck through..
I considered a trail camera, but decided to go down tonight and pitch a tent instead, somebody needs a quick lesson in conservation.

By the looks of the tire treads this isn't a road worthy vehicle.. So it more than likley isn't plated.
I just got off the phone with the president of the range, I told him I am dragging my camper up there and staying the night, he was more than happy about that.

Pellet gun is packed..
On a better note.. When we were coming home today a magnificent 8 point buck was standing on my neighbours front lawn (2:15 pm) and looking to cross the road.. The whole family got to soak in the view for a few minutes before he got tired of me undressing him with my eyes and tucked himself into a treeline.
That is only the second buck I have spotted in a random place out here in the country, I was pretty happy the whole family was there to share it with me.

I would make up some kind of tire shredder so when every ones gone for the day lay them out so they get ALL the tires then you will find out whos doing it!! Most people only carry one maybe two spares if you get three or all four there stuck!!

Thanks guys..
Last night was pretty quiet, ended up being a nice little overnight trip..
The range is only used by the members once every couple of months, the grass is cut weekly though. We did some cleaning last night but the big posts are more than we could handle.

Get yourself a 12ft ,1 by 6,and put some nails through it.Lay it across the entrance and cover it up with grass clippings.Guaranteed results.

Same type of action was taking place on a private farm back home in Virginia. It was an area in back of the property. The landowner went as far as cutting down a tree over the dirt road leading into this "spot". The vandals just took their 4-wheel drives around the tree, making a new path into their spot. One night the owner decided to confront these guys. Him and his son took their guns and went up there. A small war broke out . . .both the father and son were killed. Turned out the "vandals" were actually drug dealers. They liked to use the spot to party, they were well armed.

Don't go up there thinking it's just a couple of kids.

Bottomline here . . .call the Police.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
