Gold Tip II or Excalibur Gold Tip

Post by Sopchoppy »

Does anyone know if there is any difference (other than price) between the Gold Tip brand and the Excalibur brand of the Laser II bolts?

Ya I was looking @ ordering and found it odd that Gold Tip - Laser 11 Bolt = $6.50 and Gold Tip Carbon Crossbow Bolt (Excalibur) = $7.25/bolt. So the only diff is the price? :?:

Gold Tip Lazer II bolts or Excaliber bolts

I contacted Excal last year with the same question .I told that the offset of the fletching was 5 degrees on their bolts and the Gold Tip bolts had a straight fletch.

Gold Tip II or Excalibur Gold Tip

I contacted Gold tip; got an answer in 5 min...their Laser II has a 2 degree off-set....On Bowhunters Superstore site it states the Excalibur has a 2-4 degree off-set...don't understand the variance; have also read it has a 5 degree off-set....not sure which it is.

Does anyone know what difference 2-4-5 degrees would make?

The higher the degree, the more spin the vanes give the arrow. It also increases the noise . . .there was a guy shooting an 8 degree at the range last week. I could hear that arrow fly through the air and I don't have the best of hearing. The spin is suppose to increase the accuracy . . .I can't tell the difference, other than the noise. The guy shooting the 8 degree fletching wasn't hitting very well.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
