Hunting teams

Post by Kenton »

I would be able to manage a team based FRIENDLY competition on this forum. This is my proposal.

-three person teams

-because some states have different limits only one buck per person will be counted

-buck scoring will be

Inside spread (largest straight across length inside main beams)

less than 15 inches= 5 forum points
between 15 and 20 inches = 10 forum points
greater than 20 inches = 15 forum points

typical point count ( typical points will be points within a normal framework of a whitetail antler)

2-7 typical points = 5 forum points
8-10 typical points = 10 forum points
more than 10 typical points = 15 forum points

max scoring for bucks is 30 forum points

-I think doe management is important so each person can present 3 does

The first 2 does (or button bucks) are worth 20 forum points and the third is worth 10 forum points

-I feel that the method of harvest is also an important part of any hunt so lets throw in some bonus points

Bonus

Any deer taken with muzzle-loader = 2 bonus forum points
Any deer taken with a bow = 4 bonus forum points
Any deer taken with an Excalibur bow = 5 bonus forum points

-each deer entry needs to be summited with photo (with tag visible)

-any photo deemed unsafe will not be counted (weapon pointed towards someone)

-possible forum points should be sent to me simply so I can keep track easier

example of scoring: hunter A gets a doe with muzzle loader = 22 forum points, then gets a 8 point buck with an 18 inch inside spread using a excal = 25 forum points for a total of 47 forum points.

- maximum score for a person is 100

- winning team may get a prize but it certainly won't be worth compromising your integrety to get.

Any improvements are welcome, have team members and team name to me by October 1st if this sounds good to everyone.

what about if everyone who wants to be apart of this contest reply's to the forum saying "Im in" and have a deadline where all contestants must be enterd by and then we should just pick randomly out of a hat for the team members. I would be happy to draw them and put the teams together. Im only saying this because i dont know anyone on this site personally and I would love to enter this contest.

So we pick our own teams?

Can you "cull" your buck? Say if you are lucky enough to take two this season and the second buck is bigger than the first.
You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

I'd throw my name into the hat as well, but I don't kinow enough guys to form my own team - I'd rather some sort of draw or seeding.
I hunt, therefore I am.

I'll do it. Looks like it might just force me to be a trophy hunter. Sounds like fun.

Does can be worth as much as 25 points if you take them with an Excalibur, and you can take three (according to the team rules).
You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

I would rather we pick our teams, and then someone just start a post for those needing a team, first three to post go together and so on.

I'm also going to make the third doe worth only 10 points, this would give a person a max score of 100. Any other suggestions are welcome.
