looking back to my old stick bows and now crossbows I don't think I've ever took a shot past 25 yards at a deer, if that. Most seem to be 15 or so for an average.
It's pretty thick where I hunt and if I set up on on a field fence row I can get close also.
I'm curious on what distance most of us get our Deer.

most with my excalibur shots are between 20 to 35 , I have taken deer out to 53 yds, in field's when conditions are wright . different speeds set your range , always expect the worst before you take the shot , then decide if you want to take the shot . remember there is always another day , and there is no shortage of deer to shoot
I like to set up for an 18-22 yard shot, of course each setup is different. I would rather stretch things out to 30 then have them closer than 15 yards.
This evening the little 6 point was sniffing around straight down from my stand. I've gave him 3 free passes now. Gave a small racked 8 a pass opening weekend. I hope these young fella's wise up before gun season, those guy's are'nt as nice as I am.
1 Buck only here in Ohio, 4 anterless in the urban zone
I swear I have a hard time finding plump nanny's for my urban permits, small Buck's and yearling's. Only one mature Doe for me so far
