Darton Crossbows?

Post by ninepointer »

Just curious, does anyone have any opinions on Darton crossbows?

No, I'm not thinking of buying one, but I was wondering how they compare to Excals or Tenpoints in terms of quality.

Darton always built a rugged low maintance bow so they will most likely build a fine xbow.
I met a man coming out of the woods with a Desert Stryker and it put my Vortex to shame in speed , size and quietness BUT first before his demonstration he had to pick out all the goldenrod stems from those four wheels. I asked him what would have happened if he would have shot it that way and he replied that any wheel bow may blow with a stick in the wheel crevice. He says he's been there before :?:

:) I sell them in my store in Ga. And thay are good bows. Like tuskntine said thay are a little on the heavy side, i think all compound crossbows are. (GUESS) But one thing forshore it's not an Ecalibur. 8)

Darton used to sell them under the Great Lakes name, but they were listed on their website. I wonder why they are selling them under Darton now. More accepted for a vertical bow manufacturer to sell xbows now that Bowtech is doing it maybe?

I took a few shots with a Great Lakes once at an archery range. Didn't know they were made by Darton. It had a bull-pup style stock, seemed ruggedly built and was FAST. But I can't comment on the accuracy because I could not get used to the heavy trigger pull, as compared to my Exocet.
