Good luck with the recovery. I had the same issue last year. I needed to give him a few hours, but rain rolled in within an hour. It rained hard for at least 8 straight hours.
If your area regulations allow it, bring a dog along. A dogs' nose can see far better than our eyesight. Just walk downwind of where you think he is and the dogs' nose will do the rest. I recovered mine, but after 20 hours and an overnight of 60 degree rain he wasn't the best smelling. If not pushed, even a poorly hit deer will not travel too far. Mine traveled about 150 yards total.

bstout,
You're right about that. The 6-point I killed opening day I hit way back. So far back that the arrow exited through the front of the opposite hind quarter. I got lucky though and hit a major artery. The buck only went about 75 yards. He was down quicker than yesterdays' double-lunged 9-point. I would never recommend aiming for that region, but you can get lucky sometimes.

For anyone that is interested...this stuff does work in the rain...GREYWOLF wrote:hit a nice 6 pointer , WAY to far back going out now to try to locate him , figures its raining hard now , well I will keep them crossed

It can be a little pricey..I keep a spray bottle with peroxcide in it for trailing during daylight..AND...I have a sample pack of the Bloodglow tabs on me in case of an emergency... I spent 4 hrs last year tracking my deer in wet leaves with only pinhead size drops of blood..
I am not going through that again! lol
Pick up a sample pack of the Bloodglow...it's worth it
What a gentelman to let the younger hunter have the deer.
Hunters are good people.
Good on ya GREYWOLF
