Third times a charm

Post by new paradox »

First time out a buck came in site at 30 yards but never stopped walking,I gave him a call but it was behind some bush so I waved bye bye to him.Second time out a doe and two yearlings came out right under my tree, they too never stopped walking.I have never tried a moving shot and they were so close all I could see in the scope was brown. They would have missed moma anyway so I waved bye bye to them also, wish I had a camera with me.Today I play hookie from work but I was still taking calls. As I was on the cell a big 4x4 came out up wind from me,so I guess he couldn't hear me from that 100 yards off.I hung up and sited him in.He was broad side to me at 20 yards and he stopped, turned his head and looked right at me.As soon as his head dropped I shot,my bolt hit a branch about a foot away but still went in just behind the shoulder and came out at the back leg, low. He ran off about 150 yards and dropped.Turns out it hit a lung and nicked the heart. The easy part was over,my truck was parked over a mile away.Next time I go for the little ones.ImageImage

Congrats! good bow choice too. Much less clumbsy than the recurves and no worries about unstringing. Love mine and gonna make it work soon, been too busy so far but quitting that crap. Just found out someone stole my stand today, a little pissy but I'll find out who it was and win. Nice buck!
Good luck with the rest of the season!

Went out again yesturday, had one come out 40 yards behind me,get spooked and run back into the bush.It could not see me or smell me,I'm sure of that and I made no noise.I wonder if it smelt the sent I put down and that made it jump?
