First excalibur buck

Post by diamondback »

Image
First year hunting with my exocet.Started out with an opening day doe and then last Tuesday I was hunting a new area where I had found a bunch of rubs the day before.About 7:30 looked to my hard right and saw a brown butt about 30 yards away .Saw it was a buck feeding around on some live oaks but didnt have a shot.I slowly had to turn my body and moved my xbow so I could make a left hand shot.He finally made his way to about 15 yards and started rubbing a bush.I knew if he went a few more steps he would be downwind and bust me.I was able to pick out an opening and took a shot.He highkicked and ran under my stand out into a weed field where I couldnt see but I heard a bunch of weeds breaking and didnt know if he had fell or took off again.Give him 30 minutes and got down.could find any blood so I just walked in the direction of the last noise I heard and walked right to him,he had went about 100 yards and died. Not a monster rack but about 200 lbs and not a bad buck for A GA public land buck with a broadhead.
