While on the stand last weekend, I decided to take some pics of the surrounding area. I thought "Wouldn't it be nice if the decoy was real  ?"

I'm envious of you guys who have the time to get out. Working seven days a week sure kills it for me :(
Can't wait for the christmas holiday for Patti and I to get out and fill my last buck/doe tag.

Pydpiper,

They are the Blizzard flip up caps. They are great for keeping the rain and snow out until you need to make the shot.

When the leaves are off and I am in a hardwood I like to get high. 25-30 ft. You can stick out like a sore thumb if you don't have anything to break up your sillouette. Makes for a tougher shot on the vitals, but if they see you before you get a shot, you're done anyway  .

I hope your deer comes along soon, looks like a very nice place to hunt.
Do you have the Vari-Zone or Lumizone?

Oh Boy: I knew this was coming soon. The last minute blues! :(
Time is almost out, and gotta fill the Tag. Sounds to me that there might be to much hunting pressure there. Come into the light my friend, I have a stand with your name on it. You have a PM.

Nice picture but far to open! Why not hunt just in the edge were you have a much better chance of getting a good buck within range?

Tigerpaw,

Three does and a buck cruised by my stand that morning. The buck was stopped short of coming to have a looksee because another forum member got a crack at him. He hit a tree limb on the shot and never touched the buck, but I have done my homework in this area and know where they are travelling.
