good advise needed

Post by wim »

hello everybody my name is wim and i'm from the netherlands,i'm a member at this forum for almost a year now,and i'm now ready to buy a crossbow for hunting deer.
i'm going to buy an exomax crossbow, but i still need good advise over what to buy for hunting on whitetail deer, like what kind of arrows, broadheads, strings etc etc.
since there is not much to buy in the netherlands i have to buy my gear in the usa and ship it to the netherlands i realy don't want to make mistakes with buying the right gear(because of the waiting and shippingprice)
so is there anybody (people who also hunt whitetail with crossbows) out here who wants to give me some good advise on al the crossbow gear i need for hunting?

thank you and greetings from holland

You can't go wrong with the package available from Excalibur, it contains everything you need to go get your self a big ol' deer.
All the variations out there are hit and miss for the most part, there is no black and white replacement for what will come in your box, it is all about trial and error.
The good news is that you picked the right bow, the goodies inside the box will do everything you need and more.
And remember, if ya ain't Dutch, ya ain't much.. :D
Shoot safe.

I agree with Pydpiper. The Excalibur "Right Stuff Package" along with your Max. is certainly your best option.

Yes, the Boo strings are the best in Custom Made Strings. You have a choice in string material, number of strands and serving material. They are also pre stretched. Another option worth considering is the Whisker option that dampens sound without speed loss. His strings certainly outlast the factory ones, as many members who use them here will confirm.
The Lumi's advantages over the Vari. consists a red lighted reticle (on/off) that is adjustable in brightness and it also sports a larger objective than the Vari. Both benifits will help you under low light conditions.

The Boo string guy is named Don. :D
Sure you got the right "Boo"? He may have said he is pretty busy, but I can't see him saying he wouldn't send you one..

Wim. I've sold strings to people in England, Italy and Australia. The Netherlands is no problem.

wim,
As you can read by the numerous posts on the subject, there is a running debate regarding menchanicals vs conventional broadheads. There are staunch supporters on both sides of the question. I suggest you take the Right Stuff package and then experiment, as we all do, with what suits you best. Carbon vs Aluminum shafts, feather vs plastic vanes, wraps, etc. The experimentation makes you understand your bow better and find what fits you and your hunting conditions best. Welcome to the experience and thrill of crossbow hunting and ejoy the experimentation. We all look forward to your comments.
