Unstring Your Excal When not in use?

Post by Rocketman »

I was just wondering how many of you guys unstring your Excals when hunting season is over. I know that it is recomended by Excalibur to let the limbs relax. Is it necessary and will you lose speed if you keep it strung all the time?

If any of mine are going to sit for more than a month I remove the disapator pads and remove the string, or if it will be in a hot room in the summer for any period of time

I unstrung mine on New Years day. I will string it up again in the middle of summer for target shooting and it will stay that way until next Jan 1st.

if mines gonna sit for more than 2-3 weeks ill unstring it...

why? It only takes a whole 1-3mins... and I like spending time working on the bow and making sure everything stays in top notch shape:)

but yes it helps take stress off the limbs and im sure over time you will see some longer life from certain parts. Its always a great idea to do it espically in the heat!

I unstring mine if it's going to set for more than a couple weeks without being shot. Usually unstring it in the summer except when I'm actually going shooting as I don't have A/C.

I unstring mine after deer season is over (mid-Jan.) and will restring it for practice a few months before season opens next fall. I follow Excal. recommendations.

I had my Exocet strung from before the beginning of the 2006 deer season until New Years this year. The point of impact changed very little, 2 clicks on the scope.

No disapator pads for me to worry about, so I take the string off at the end of the season. I could really do it after everyday of hunting, it takes about 15 seconds..
