Turkey Broadheads.....

Post by Fork Horn »

OK guys we here in Ontario are about three months away from Turkey season. I personally can't wait!!! Turkey hunting is what got me started hunting, I love the interaction with birds and the thundering gobbles :D

So what Bolt and head set-up are you guys planning on using this spring????
Has anyone ever tried the Guillotine broadhead and removed the stirup ???

There are some new ones out there I might try. FUSE makes one called the Strut Buster. I may try the NAP Gobbler Getter in my vert bow. Check out the Bullhead from Magnus Broadheads. Watch the video's, :shock:

Digger are you shooting for the leg area and hoping you don't get a pass through??

I shoot for the area just below the head. The Zwickey stops any pass thrus. Took a tom 4 years ago with a Texas heart shot . (not recommended)

I've taken a few with the xbow. Most I took with Slammerheads and one with a Hammerhead.

Here's what the Slammerhead did last year on the last day.........

Thanks for the posted pic. I'd like to give those a try. I tried the gobbler guillotines and they suck. They have no consistancy whatsoever.

As some of you know, I'm a pretty big Rocket Broadhead Fan.

Here's the write up about these heads;
http://www.trophyridge.com/broadheads/ wrote:Thousands of turkey kills have initiated this broadhead into a legend. With an incredible weight and an unbelievably large cutting diameter, ol' "Tom" won't know what hit him
Comes in;
- 2 3/4" 125Grain
- 3 1/2" 150Grain

I like that it's mechanical. should fly well (compared to the guillotine), but still packs a massive punch.

I would lean towards what you know works. Use your existing setup with or without an arrestor to stop a passthrough. Drill em at the base of the wing and they will die.
