new excal bolts

I havent followed this much, but I remember they were switching to a new type? Anyone have a link to the new bolts and have any specs such as the weight of the bolt(without fieldtip) and the foc?

I find something on here that said they weigh 25 grains more than the gold tip 2's did. Thats what the custom ones I make for myself weigh lol. Maybe ill just by them so I dont have to fool with the inserts and everything

I heard they were made by Easton but not sure.

Just refleched an Easton made firebolt for a friend with 2" blazers. Will
try it out this afternoon. Easton also makes their own bolt called a
"powerbolt" The Firebolt made exclusively for Excalibur is 20+ grains
heaver than the GT Laser II. I believe Easton's own "powerbolt" weighs
somewhat more. There was a thread on this topic some time ago.
I think it had some specifics on bolt weights.

They are easton firebolts. Don't know what they weigh, but they group the same as my Laser IIs.

So why doesn't Excalibur call them Firearrows? Or Carbon Express call theirs Crossarrows instead of Crossbolts?

The conotation that the crossbow anti's give the word "BOLTS" is quite detramental to crossbow users. Most crossbow users refrain from calling the arrows bolts so as not to set any distinguishing things for the anti's to use.
Even though the dictionary defines "bolt" as an ARROW used in a crossbow it is far better to call them arrows There is no sense or intelligence in gving the anti's something to use against crossbow people!!!!

So in one line you say to refrain from calling them bolts, and in the next line you say it is far better to call them bolts?

Call them what you want, but if you seriously think that using the term "bolt" is more prejudicial than "arrow", then I think you might want to not use the term "crossbow" either. Might lead to more use of the term "crossgun".

I guess "horizontal bow" would be safer.

Maybe we should have the courtesy to start another thread about the terminology of crossbows and accessories?

Yep.....bolts are what hold the crossbow together so that the crossbow can shoot the arrows.
