Which one of these fits?
I've used them all.

It's funny to see how these threads end up sometimes. I'm going to refer to my crossbow as my "tool" from now on. 8)

I kind of like "implement” or perhaps "apparatus", but my favorite has to be "instrument"!

As I head into the forest with my "instrument" to pluck out that mournful, woeful tune of death to the unsuspecting whitetail deer that reside there in apparent peace.

But if I ever get attacked by a bear, an overly horney whitetail buck or a rabid opossum, I will take great comfort in the fact that my implement, tool or instrument will quickly and easily convert into a "weapon" that will help fend off the attack and help save my aging and wasting-away butt!

It is hard to believe the crossbow can be so many things to so many people. It is even more awesome than I first thought, especially since it shoots arrows. Makes me want to bolt right out and buy a new one.

I agree Robert! It is a very large part of why I fell in love with writing. The possibilities, patterns and creative opportunities are endless. Only the limitations of imagination restrict the playing field.

You guys are funny :D

Seriously though, referring to hunting arms as "weapons" just makes the anti's job easier.....look at the press today

Cooey 22 = "Weapon"

A cooey 22, a 12 ga pump and a 303 = "Cache"

A cooey 22, a 12 ga pump, a 303 and a pistol = "Arsenal"

Anything with a magazine = "Assault weapon"

3 bulk packs of cheap .22 shells from walmart = "Almost two thousand rounds of ammunition"

Anything with a scope="Sniper rifle"

and the list coes on

I defended my country with a "weapon", I certainly don't hunt with one.
If you can't set a good example, at least serve as a horrible warning.
