Another Saturday

Post by Big John »

Well this time I went out with camera in hand.
Went out to fill the feeder I made, and take some pic's for you guy's.
Walking out with a fifty pound bag of corn on my shoulders, was no easy task. Thought it wasn't to bad when I carried it from the store. If the wife found out, or my cardiologist, I'd be getting a good smack behind the ear I believe. Anyhow, got out there and proceeded to cut open the bag and sliced my finger pretty good. Then went to put my knife in the sheath and dropped it in the snow. Tried for 20 min. to find it. Nothing. Closed up the bag, grabbed my gloves and walked out. Nice blood trail to follow. :) Got back to the truck and realized I didn't take any pic's. Had that knife for years. :(

Well I'm going to make it up to my self with Deer Tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, plate of fresh veg. and a large glass of white wine.

Sorry for no pic's. I will get them for you.

John

PS: the deer tracks went 2 ft. in front of the feeder. :D

Just wait until theres a thaw and go get your knife. It will still be there. Friend of mine lost his radio while hunting and went back a month later after a melt and there it was.

Good Luck !!

Sounds like the type of adventure I have all too often.
Hope you are able to find the knife when the snow melts. I have a few spots I check to see if missing items have decided to come home yet about every trip out. Looked for my missing "Grizzly Stik" carbon arrow today, but it hasn't surfaced yet.

Well I will go out and check when the snow melts, that's a given.
However, I will buy another good one anyway, never can have to many good pocket knive's. :) I can't remember a time, even when young, that I didn't carry a pocket knife. :?:

And anyway, if RJ would start to post on here again, pic's and all, I wouldn't have to blab about my Saturday's. :)

Come on RJ, save us!! I know your reading this.

Knife

Post by kendo kid »

You will need a knife on Saturday. Better buy one quick.

I will be on the south shore of Erie a couple of days this week. I am taking my big eyes with me to see what the flights are like on the other side of the water. Corn stubble is up but I am not seeing much in the air or feeding. But that could change fast.

PS. I hope the cut hand means you will only be able to haul the totes and sleds. I sorry to hear you will be unable to shoot. :P

Don't worry Kendo, I could chop my whole finger off, and still manage to shoot, and drag, and clean all that we get. :)

knife

Post by Big John »

Went out on Saturday to fill the feeder again. Wife carries the corn for me in a knapsack. :) Bless her. Three feet in front of the feeder was my knife!!! Already bought a new one. But sure feels good to get the old one back. Still perfect condition. 8) So now I have a couple beauty knives to rotate in my belt holster. :)

Youyr wife and Card. didn't know about the "trek", but The Big Guy did and maybe he was trying to tell you something. All that happened was temporarily loosing your knife and not life. Eh. We all do it. I would to. Hard to stay away from something you Love.

Glad you found your knife. :D

If you don't have something like your feeder to mark the place, anytime you lose something in snow, make a little tripod of sticks over the spot ... helps you find it when you come back after the thaw comes.

Y'all thought us Carolina boys didn't know anything about snow, didn't ya? :D
