My Dads Buck...

Post by Bow Life »

My dad was hunting a property this year that it was our first year hunting.
I had sat and watched a massive 12 point push around an 8 point two days prior at 60 yards in a bean field. But with what i assume were 2 hot does around the bucks would not come any closer to my set up.

My dad went back and set up a little closer to where the bucks were fighting and thought the hunt was screwed when he saw the combine come into cut the beans.
However as he watched the farmer stop at the one end of the field and start to unload into a grain trailer he had he realized there was a big buck within 75 yards of the tractor walking straight to my dad.
He ended up shooting the deer at 30 yards with his exomag.

He got the mount back a while ago im just getting around to posting it now.
The deer weighed out at 350lbs, had a wad from a shot gun and 3 ssgs in his neck. The fur around his eyes is work off from fighting. I believe it was 34 inches around the middle of his neck. It was all two of us could do to load the deer, thank god the beans were cut and we could drive right back to it.

I never thought I would hear of a deer you almost had to quarter to get out.

Nice story, big deer.

350 lbs? That's massive. Do you have any pictures of him in the field or before he was mounted?

Well I believe him on the weight. :)
I have been trying for a monster on my property for a few years. There is now another. They are huge. And I've seen huge. But they will not come out to play in daylight.  And I will guarantee they are over 275 lbs. each. And they are very well fed.

John

awesome rack with nice mass! The body size of the deer actaully makes them seem small. Put that rack on our 150pound deer here and it would be huge!

congrats to your dad on that deer.. 350 pounds is a brute!

That one would make the calmest hunter shake. I for one would have some great difficulty getting my bow to stay still long enough for the shot.

Great looking mount.
