First outing with the new camera

Post by ecoaster »

Chris gave me a call earlier in the week and said he found a deer hotspot right in the city, so we wen't out yesterday after work to see if we could get some snap shots.

Chris found us a good blind, down wind to spy from......

It wasen't long until we saw three bedded in a thicket within eyesight of the higway .......

They got up after a while and went for a stroll........

One had to stop for a pee break :D .......

Then they came closer.......
Image

and closer...

and closer.......

Then some other folks showed up and the deer got spooked.........

Before we left we saw another three on a hilltop with a beautiful sunset for a backdrop........

Chris' batteries died in his camera during the trip, so he is credited with a few of these shot from my camera  .

How do the pics look on your computer?? They look dark on mine. :? Hopefully it is just my monitor/computer. Either way, still a good way to break in the new camera. Love the sunset/silhoutte pic.

Sometimes when it rains it rains corn!!!! Gobble, gobble!!

That was fun.

Went out today. Saw six or so, but nothing came in as close as those did.

I couldn't get over the amount of rubs in the area. We are going to head back once the snow melts to see what caliber of bucks are tearin things up.

Cool shots ! .... I tried to view then the other day at work but they only showed up as red X's ?

I can see them on my PC at home ... Enjoy the camera , helps extend the season !

Hikerman,

The deer bedded were probably 100yards away and some of the closer pictures they were within 10 yards. I was using a Nikon D40X with a 70-300mm zoom. They were so close that Chris was lobbing handfulls of corn over the fence and it was raining down around them  . They probably thought they had died and gone to heaven.
