My First X-Bow Kill!

Post by Tommy-SKIL-Figure »

Hey all!

ive been away from the forum for a while but thought i would check in and post a picture of my first kill with the exocet 200.

I have only ever shot some pigeons with it in the past but i've been honing my skills for the last year or so. Getting this goat was a proud moment for me i can assure you.

I the bolt hit him fair and square in the neck at 30 meters and the g5 embeded itself in the bone at the base of the skull. The animal fell right where it was and was no longer struggling by the time i walked up to him. needless to say i was very impressed with the performance of the whole outfit.

P.S. wasnt sure which image code to use so there are two up there.

P.P.S. excuse the blood, it's not the most flattering pic of a goat but it will do.

Way to go! That is a very cool picture of a land far, far away. Doesn't look like you would get much use out of a treestand though.

thanks for all the comments guys!

from that angle it looks very barron but i did take a pic 180degres from that angle and you can see the little patch of trees i found cover in (will post a pic of this when i get home from university).

i get the impression the hunting here is nothing like you guys do it over there for your deer. had to hone in on this guy from about 500 meters away. stalked my way up to the edge of the tree line and then let it rip!

And yes, Rich, goat is fantastic table food. its a very tender meat!

Take the xbow and head up to the Northern Territory and get them big Water Buffalo. When I was in Australia back in 1987 I went on a Buff. hunt and nailed one with a high powered rifle, not sure what caliber.

You must be north of Adelaide or South of Alice Springs, by the looks of the dessert. I hear they've had a three or four year drought, the worst in history. To bad, I hate droughts.

yehp.

good call Grey Owl, about 5 hours north of Adelaide on a friends property and yes its been a terrible few years. To top it all off, we are in Autumn atm and we have had something like 15 consecutive days above 35 degree (Celsius) heat which is another record. Hopefully tomorrow the temp will fall to about 30 which is still ridiculous for late march but its definitely an improvement.

Yeh a buffalo hunt would be a great trip for the X-Bow! its all a matter of time and money i guess.

The pic below is sort of a goats-eye-view of where I took the shot from. You can just see me left of center standing by a tree.

take care guys.
