My boss showed me a video on his computer where a guy opened up a 6 volt lantern battery and out spilled 32 AAs.
I had an old one laying around, a duracell. I opened it up and sure enough there are batteries inside. Not 32 AAs but 4 Ds. There's a cardboard filler in the bottom to make up for the lack of length. Maybe some other manufacturers use different sized batteries to stuff their 6 volts. Anyone else try this?

I have a flashlight that uses either the 6 volt or has an adapter for the four Ds. I wonder if the adapter could be used outside the flashlight instead of buying the moer expensive volts?? Or make a universal adapter?Hmmmm

I used to feed my portable depth finder with 2 disposable 6 volts..then I converted it to take the rechargeable 12 volt that powers my Vexilar (fish detector) and ice drill. No more throwaways.
Each AA is also built of smaller cells, you can make any "adapter" you want, just make sure you have the right voltage and have at it. You could hook up 2 6V hand held lights to a huge car battery and have some amazing battery life.
