Just Confirmed Today

Post by Wayne B »

I still can't believe it! Two weeks ago my wife RROLLED UP THE RIM and it said Toyota Matrix. Well, she did all the paperwork and we waited and waited. They phoned her today and asked her which Tim Horton's store did she want it delivered to?

Congrats, you lucky duck!!!

I make my coffee to go every morning, so I don't get to Tim's very often. Saves me a ton of cash in the long run.

Congratulations to your wife in winning herself a new car.. ;)

Will you have to pay income taxes on it?

In the states we have to pay income tax on any "prize" that we win..

A $30,000 car would probably set us back $6,000.

I don't think so. When my wife asked if there would be any taxes, the store owner said" if there are any, I'll pay them! " So I doubt there will be any. However, I told her I wished she would have got that in writing :D When she was notified by phone nothing was mentioned about taxes. I'll let you know, but I think it may be different in Canada.

In the states, we would then have to pay taxes on the money the store owner used to pay the original taxes!

Very cool! I thought it was a scam too..
To those in the US, we have a coffee shop on every corner in Canada called Tim Hortons, and they are all busy all the time.. Tim Hortons and Beer are our claim to fame.
In canada the is no tax on winnings, in the US you pay income tax on lottery winnings, here we don't, you win $20 you keep $20. They will get it eventually( ), but not off the top of your winning.

Yea first time I stopped in a Tim Horton's was coming back from bear hunting in 1998. They had the worst doughnuts ever!

We have them in Ohio now too--just like crossbows!
