Any tips to keep practice points from coming loose

Post by Pydpiper »

Just looking for a way to keep tips from working themselves loose while shooting, I would prefer to not use loc-tite, even blue.

Hey Pydpiper,

Try rubbing wax on the threads before screwing them on your bolts.

I have found this works, but I also have 1 set of arrows for target & 1 set for hunting.

The target bolts I use pliers on to give the tip an extra bit of torque.

I use a very thin rubber O ring between the tip and the arrow. When tightening the tip the O ring compresses and creates tension on the threads so the tip does not come loose. They do not add any noticeable weight nor effect the accuracy or speed.

Nail polish or a small piece of plastic from a shopping bag. Then there's the all time favorite, pliers! LOL!

A touch of (blue) LocTite.

Right wing fletch does it for me, since the bolt tightens the point as it spins clockwise.

Finger tight they come loose..........grip the arrow by the shaft with an arrow puller and tighten the FP with a pair of pliers.......they don't come loose. It'll test how secure your insert is too.......don't overtighten.

I never worry about it when shooting field points, when I pull it out of the target I just give it a twist no biggy besides when I want to put broadheads on that arrow I don't want to have to really wrench on the field point to change it. M&M
