Just shoot the vortex today.barely any adjustment eeded after mounting scope amazing acurite out of the box .I did smell smoke after first couple of shoots. MUST get cocking rope :!: Very HAPPy so far

That smell is normal, it's just the wax heating up. Excal's have unbelievable accuracy!

I did not notice any smell when I first shoot my new Vortex. I am shooting Firebolts now that came in the Right Stuff Package. Right now I am just enjoying shooting it and getting use to it - No dry fires yet! :D
Life goes by quick - so don't think about going hunting - get out there and DO IT!

Im thinking the burning smell is from a dry rail , a little bit of rail lube will fix that smell , i smell it from time to time in 3D tournaments .
