Are season opens april 25 till end of may .I dont think u can sit in the bush and call to the birds before the seson.hunting includes lieing in wait for or searching for or being on the trailof or harasingwild game .we sit at a advantage point in the morn and the eve and just lisen .that way u do not educate the birds. good luck every body B B D :D :D :D

According to the regs, calling without a licence is illegal. Turkeys are very vocal at dawn, so I like to just sit and listen a week or two before the season. As long as you don't spook them or educate them too much, then they will most likely be in that spot during the season.

Just got in from scouting one of our bushes saw LOTS of sign. Found the struting areas and plenty of feeding areas but not the roost. I think its in the bush acroos the road. need to look again this week some night. It's a Big Bush. You can use a cro, Owl Yote calls for locator as they may respond back as they roost. They may not call at all. Use you hearing and eyes. You would hate to educate to biigest Tom around just before season oopens. Season Runs April 25-May 31

Yeah i thought it wasnt allowed but just wanted to check.
I got my first gobbler last year he was pretty decent for my first year hunting turkeys, 1 1/8" spurs and i think 8 or 9 inch beard.

Ive been seeing lots of turkeys in the areas that i hunt however im worried my calling isnt good enough. Ill just have to keep annoying everyone at work while i practice.

Thanks guys.

  The Ontario dates are April 25 to May 31 every year! If you want to see if there are birds in your area, go out before dawn and listen for them as well as using locator calls.... 8)
If I can't hunt & fish in heaven....then I don't want to go!!!!!!!!!!

Mike,

Keep on practicing. If you have a tom that is fired up enough, the calling doesn't seem to matter too much :D . Best way to know if you are doing it right is to get out in the field and listen to the real hens. If you can get a hen fired up, mimick her calls. This really gets the boys fired up too. I have been in a few "screaming matches" with hens, and it is fun  . Usually gets the attention of every male turkey within earshot.

Ecoaster tells me my calling doesn't sound like a turkey.  Thankfully the turkeys don't know!!
