Bowfishing with a Crossbow

Post by kodiak »

Hey,

I'm thinking about heading out for some Carp with the Crossbow this year...

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the right gear?

I'm guessing I need a reel mounted to the bottom of the bow, a bolt that must be cut down with a string attached? Or do they sell straight up Crossbow kits...?

Some states or provinces won't allow the xbow for fishing!

Check to be sure.

Ontario does not permit it!
Leave the concrete jungle behind and just go hunting !

In Ontario is may be legal, check the regs for your area. It says "Bow and Arrow: Includes all longbows and crossbows" page 11 of the 2008 regs.

You will probably have to adapt vertical bow gear for the job . I made an arrow for my exocet acouple years back .

I cut down an aluminum shaft used for a vertical bow ( 2215 / 2216 I think ) and a fiberglass fish arrow , then epoxied the fish arrow inside the aluminum shaft leaving room to glue an insert into the rear of the shaft.

Ten Point sell a bowfishing rig that works for crossbows. I believe it will mount to an Ecal as easily as it does to a Ten Point. Comes with line, arrow, head; everything you need

You can contact Wyvern as he carries them
You sure you can skin griz, pilgrim??

Life is too short to carry an UGLY knife!
