Two more agonizing days..

Post by Pydpiper »

My bags are packed, my calls are sanded, cleaned and organized.. Tag is half peeled in anticipation. Shotgun is shooting like a million bucks, Exocet is tapping dimes..
It is going to be a great Friday! I am half tempted to leave now and just wait it out in the bush.. I still have a day or two to work though.. Had a good talk with the boss, I now have Friday off, home with the kids Saturday and Sunday while the wife does her hunting course then back out on Monday..
I hope everyone has a safe and successful season, it is almost time to make something very, very dead.

I'm new to Turkey hunting. I've been out twice and heard nothing. There were turkeys in both locations last fall. I assume they gobble only at dawn? Do they move significantly over the winter?
Thanks for any help.

They may move, they may not, it depends on many things, if they have what they need for the whole year in an area they may stay.

I have heard them gobble every night since Saturday and man did they ever gobble on Saturday night. And every night since then they have gobbled less and less. So last night I went to the end of the driveway where I usually hear them. And nothing even made a peep. I think they are henned up big time. I think they have threr hens with them and are not announcing to any other Toms in the area of there location. I have not heard the morning gobble yet. But what it sounds like from bait pile wille is that they are also henned up pretty good since he is not hearing any gobbles after 6 am. Good luck to all in the Turkey woods. Looks like it will be a nice day for the opener in Ontario. Gobble Gobble Cluck Cluck.
