my FIRST turkey!

Post by xbowkidd »

went to owen sound on friday morning for my first turkey hunt. we had six birds come in, i set up and took my shot... 2 inches too high. oh well.
headed out to the blind in roseville this morning with n8tr boy, we got there just about 5 mins before sunrise. i set up my jake decoy and settled down onto my 5 gallon pail. i hadn't even made my first call when 3 toms and 5 hens came cruising out of the bush, i made a few soft purrs and... twang, i took my first shot at around 16 yards, tom jumped and limped away. the shot went through the base of the legs. I quickly reloaded and took a second shot and that was the end of that.

20 lbs
8 inch beard
3/4 spurs

CONGRATS. The first bird is always great, to take with archery equipment is a major feat.
