Broadheads for Turkeys?

Post by rm »

As I don't really have a good shotgun for the big birds I'm thinking of using my Pheonix. Figure it's plenty fast enough at around 20yrds. and it'll get me out.

Any suggestions on broadheads?

I currently have Thunderheads 100 &125gr, Montec 5's 100gr and some old Spitfire expandables in 100gr. Any of these fit the bill or is there something else out there better suited to Turkeys?

Thanks

Any good broadhead for deer will work for turkeys. You have more then 20 yards. Use a Zwicky Scorpio Small Game Grappler behind the broadhead. It will prevent the shaft from passing though and decrease the bird's ability to fly and thump the bird.

Rocket Slammerheads or Steelheads. I picked them because I can shoot through mesh in blinds accurately and I don't have to change heads or arrows to hunt out of a tree or the blind. 1 head for all. I've taken over a half dozen gobblers with them.

Here's my choicefor turkeys, 4 bladed slick tricks with Zwickey grapplers behind the BH. Really effective.
