Finally connected on a VA gobbler. This bird was taken on an afternoon hunt (my first afternoon hunt ever). I had struck this bird at 1:00 in the afternoon but could not locate him down in the creek bottom. I came back at 5:30 and came in from the other side of the creek. I walked down an old logging road till I hit the creek bottom and made one yelp. The gobbler hammered less than 100 yards away and I barely had time to sit down. I yelped one more time and shut up. 2 minutes later him and another tom were 40 yards out, the number 5's put the smack down on him. He was 20 lbs with an 11 inch beard.
