Big Forest Fire -- UPDATE
Evening Update:
The big fire continues on ... the wind changed again, to the north this time. The big corporate farm south of us is bulldozing fire lanes through the woods west of them, just in case. Here's tonight's news update:

Hey, Ya'll ...
Burn, baby, burn ... she's a hot one:

Heading for us, too ... in Pocosin Lakes NWR now, contiguous with our western farm boundary.
Dense fog-like smoke and ashes falling like snow here ... fire has taken more than 10,000 acres now and is moving about one mile per hour with flames sixty feet high!
We may be under evacuation order soon. I ain't leavin' unless the house in on fire! That's why I built it out in the middle of the field ... too hazardous to have it up next to the woods.
Maybe it'll rain!

Good luck with the fire Griz . . .you might want to lock it up and go. If you need a place to hang out in the meantime . . .come on down!
Be safe.

Don't ya'll worry ... we've got lots of windows and an unobstructed view of the western horizon (this is flatland) ... and we've got a back way out, too, so we can't get trapped. No worries. We'll be careful.
Good news and bad news, bad first:
The rain stopped right away and the wind is really gusting hard.
Happily, it's blowing to the Northeast ... away from us, though I don't know the exact location or dynamics of the blaze.
The smoke is billowing so high and is so thick it looks like we're overcast with heavy cloud cover ... but it's all smoke. We've had some black "potato-chip" stuff falling ... don't know what it was. Pine bark?
Anyhow, we'll be watching for the big show ... or no!
