Arm help
Arm help
I have a bum left arm and have a hell of a time bringing my arm up for a shot with a crossbow or a gun and holding it for off hand shots. ? is there anything that can help, out there. Thanks Rich
I know your pain. A little over a year ago I was in an accident which left me without any use in my right arm. I had to change everything including now becoming a left handed shot even though I am right eye dominant. I switched to crossbow and made a bipod from old hockey sticks. This gave me the oportunity to hunt again.
I have now regained enough use of my arm to do off hand shots resting the forestock of the bow on my right forearm which is still not that stable as Boo witnessed yesterday.
I will continue to practice that way, but when it comes to hunting, I will be using a rest of some sort. There are lots of brands of shooting sticks available which are reasonably inexpensive or just use whatever you have around to make a rest out of. This is the great advantage the crossbow especially with a crankaroo or similar cranking device to help cock it. There is a solution to help you keep on shooting, you just need to think a little differently than you did before and maybe become a little inventive. Many people on here have come up with some great ways to overcome some type of hardship, whether it be shooting their bow or something greater.
Good luck on your search to find a solution for your shooting problem but if you hang out here on the forum long enough you will have plenty of suggestions.

I believe there is an item called the Steady Eddy. You could use it to prop up against your waist or stomach I think. you could use both arms to bring the bow up for a shot then prop the Eddy against your body to hold it there, and still move side to side somewhat for a shot.
