O/T Rotator Cuff UPDATE/REVISED

Post by frisky »

As you know I had Rotator Cuff surgery on Friday the 1st of August. The MRI showed a 100% tear of the "tendon" and 3 bone spurs. :( During surgery the Doctor found something different. Well low and behold, the "tendon" was FRAYED, not the 100% tear as showen by the MRI. :D
The fraying was caused by the bone spurs. The Doctor removed the spurs (all three) ugly looking buggers, and ended up with a collection in the bottom of a 6 to 8 oz. drink cup! I am quit sore now but I will be hunting in October w/xbow. :D
I thank everyone who offered encourgement.
If anyone else is thinking of this surgery, my Doctor told me IF I have a 100% tear, I would have abount three months to fix it. After that point the "tendon" wants to coil up and hide. At that point it is ALMOST impossible to repair. Don't wait that long. :(

I too have a frayed tendon,no treatment for that other than shoulder exercises whic I do 5 x a wk for 35 minutes thn ice it down, it has improved quite a bit but will never be normal .If I dont stretch the tendon out there is always the fear of tearing it completely, thats the joy of getting old!good luck with your shoulder Frisky and make sure you do your exercises.
