Well Jim, I like the older padded case myself, for travelling short distances of less than 200 mi. I have an Excal case and a REd Head case from Bass Pro. For long hauls I like my double gun case for travel.

I have the older padded case. The only thing I would like to see changed with it is the zipper system. Instead of just a zipper across the end where the limbs go - a "T" type zipper (like can be found on some tent openings) would be handier.
I also sprayed my case with a couple coats of Camp Dry waterproofing spray. so the bow stays drier in a hard rain, and the case doesn't gain much weight from absorbing water.

I love my Padded Excaliber case no problems yet :D
