Safty Vest / Harness

Post by Yellowlab823 »

Hello from Suffolk, Va. I'm new to the forum and to the sport of crossbow hunting (Exocet 200). I have spent a few days browsing the forum and have found it very informative.

Ok on to my reason for this post.
I was wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge of the Hunter System Safety vest / harness. Looking for pro, cons, overall quality and what others are using.

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Thanks Mike for the welcome.

I'm really excited about the upcoming crossbow season. There is so much to learn about crossbows and this seems like a great place to start.

Welcome to the forum! I don't climb often due to a back injury but when I do I always wear a Hunter's Safety System Full Body Harness and this is one of the reasons why.

http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... ht=harness

The Hunter's Safety System Pro Series is the only harness that I have used since the truth about "safety belts" became available. I have one and my 11 year old son has one. I can't compare it to other harnesses on the market but I'll say this about mine. It's easy to put on once you adjust it to your body size, it's light, cool and comes with a deer drag. They are a little expensive but you CANNOT afford not to own one. I would also purchase this:

Again your in about $150.00, spinal injuries cost much much more and last a lifetime. No matter what brand you go with, please use it every time you climb, we enjoy your company.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input into the safety harness. I can relate to the surgury, I had neck surgury last year and wore a brace for 6 very long weeks. Fortunately I was still able to get into the woods and do a little hunting from ground level of course.

I just bought the Pro model, and it looks like a good one. I like the mesh idea for hot weather wear. The straps are arranged so they don't get into a tangle like my old one did.

Shop around before buying. I bought mine from Ebay and a lot cheaper than Cabela's.

I have the HSS Pro Series and it is a quality vest. I picked mine up at the Harrisburg Show last year for $110. I think they average $130-140 now. The buckles make a world of differance in putting it on and off.

Vests are great but I read somewhere that 75% of all falls are getting in and out of the stand. You want the best protection money can buy? Get yourself this bad boy. I bought one this year to try it out.http://www.integratedsafety.us/store/

I have an HSS vest also..the things i like about it is that its light can adjust to my small frame and its reversable from camo to hunter orange. The pockets are also great to hold warmers, bleat caller and other trinkets
