you don't ! just the changes in stock or camo gives you a period of time to lump them into. everyone needed to have read the posts to understand what we had been trying to figure out. i didn't know they had been using the tab on new stocks. that was a feature on the thumbhole stocks. thats what had me so confused as every pic online and paper catalogs show exocet with stud swivel not the tab.

I think you can tell what year it was made is by the camo/color pattern. I was in Bass Pro yesterday and the new Phoenix pattern had a lot red in it. The stock also flaired out at the bottom of the forearm, preventing the fingers from extending to high and getting whacked. It also had the plastic tab for the sling.

the pictures on the excal website clearly show the thumbole stocks with the tab and the non thumbhole stocks with the stud except for the vixen which has none but does have a place to install one.

At least you know you have the latest model!
I'd phone or email Excalibur about the problem. I'll bet they'll figure out a way to fix it (like give you a swivel that will fit).
They should be made aware of the problem so they can try to remedy it for future production.

i dad no problem with the tab on the rear of the stock it is plenty strong it may just need a littel sanding but most sling swivels should fit and the tab is plenty strong try the dremel it should not take much good luc DUTCH

Post by dutchhunter »

just because you got it 08 does not mean it is a 08 model . i bought mine in o8 and it did not come with a hat in the box some times dealers will sell the ones in the stock room as the new and latest model.thy are still brand new but can be a year or two old and threr is know way of knowing at all it is imposable to say with out a doubt it was made in 08 or 07 or 06 the only way we can group them iswhen threr is a big change it camo or desine like the thumb hole other wise thy just keep coming one year to the next all the same my 2 cents DUTCH u canot always belive the dealers
