got one!!!

Post by dw »

went out last night for thew first time and saw 1 buck at dusk to far away to shoot. went out tonight was in my stand at 5:30 in a new location. at 7:00 a nice 8 point is out in the field in front of me. i forgot my range finder and guessed it at thirty yards. shot and missed. when i walked it off is was about 45 yards. was gonna leave but i recocked my crossbow and got back up. at 7:40 i see a deer off to the left. i knew how far he was cause i just walked it off. i put my 40 yard crosshair on him and pulled the trigger. the hit sounded good i watched him run into the tall grass and stop. it was just about dark so i got down and looked and sure enough 20 yards from where i shot him he was down. i am 47 and this is my 8th year hunting. this is my biggest buck to date. a seven point with a perfect left side and a funky right side. got him with my parker terminator 150 lb 320 fps. 125 grain g5 montec 2 inch blazers and a beeman thunderbolt 413 grains. exomax wont be here untill tuesday.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say that rack has "character"! Just tell people anybody can shoot a typical, but you look for something unique.
BTW - Not making fun of you, I'd have shot him, too. 8)
