Team Florida Scores / Video Added

Post by saxman »

If you have been following Erica's first hunt then you know I set up a ground blind for her.
We spooked a deer going in last night so I got up early (4:30 am) and got in the blind at 5:15

About 7:00 I saw a doe moving to my left but had no shot,She was being followed by a small rack buck, still no shot.
They both disappeared and a few minutes later the buck came out in my shooting lane.
He was oblivious to the blind.
I use a primos trigger stick and leveled the crosshairs on him.
He was quartering to me.The G5 Montec hit him right behind the left shoulder went all the way through and exited about 10" behind the left shoulder.
The shot was 25 - 27 yards and the deer went 25 - 35 yards.
He is a six point

If you look at the picture the deers eyes have some sort of skin problem and swelling around them.
He has the same growths on his chin and over most of his body.
I called the Game Warden and they took the deer for testing but I kept the rack.
I dont know which looks worse him or me!
I used to fill out that shirt, look where the shoulder seams are now.
I'm half the man I used to be but still kickin.

Team Florida is scoring this guy as a doe.
20 points dor the deer and 5 for the crossbow for a total of 25 points.

Way to go Saxman! Feeling pretty confident about getting a bigger buck?

I figured it would take a few posts for someone to call me out on that one.
I should have know it would be you.LOL
Not much gets be guy's named Scott.

We are only 4 days into the season and there is good sign in the 4600 acres I have to hunt so I guess I am putting it all on the line.
I will either be the team hero or Zero.

I got your "excited" voice mail this morning and have saved it on my phone in case you want to relive the moment sometime. I'm tickled to death for ya buddy. That's a nice little 6 point but you know that Erica is going to kick your hind parts when she finds out that you killed a buck out of "her" stand  . Naw, just kidding, I'm sure that she will be just as happy for you as we are. It's great that you were able to harvest this deer so that the authorities can find out what was wrong with him. From the description that you gave me of the deer's condition, I'd say that he was suffering from a mental illness that made him confused and suicidal as he approached your blind    Just kidding buddy, congradulations!
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Congrats Sax!!! Good shooting. Too bad no meat for the table.

It has been suggested that it may be fibrona skin disease.
If thats the case the meat would be fine but I wanted to Err on the side of caution.

I've said it before and will again now.
The excalibur crossbow is such a fine piece of equipment and instills confidence.
Not trying to be cocky by any means but after 100's of shots with this bow when I put it to my shoulder today I knew what the outcome would be.
