Youth's first crossbow deer

Post by Woody Williams »

Youth's first crossbow deer

7 year old Grant Rinehart took this fine Indiana nanny Saturday evening. 20 yards with a TenPoint crossbow. He made a perfect behind the shoulder shot on her. She piled up in less than 70 yards.

Here is the happy 7 year old hunter. How about that smile?

Big brother gets in the picture with his own congratulations. Big bother got a turkey in the spring, so it was little brother's turn to arrow something.

The extremely happy dad is Ross Rinehart (Marketing Manager for Bear Archery).

The only sad part about this is Grant’s grandpa Ed Rinehart passed a way a couple months ago. But, I am sure Grandpa Ed was smiling down from above with a nod of approval.

My congratulations to Grant. May it be the first of many to come.....

One happy youngster for sure!!!!!!!!

Dutch, I don't know about Ontario law, but that picture sure bears out the advantages of allowing crossbows as archery equipment. With a crossbow the individual's physical abilities are much less important. I doubt that that boy could handle a vert bow of adequate draw weight for deer hunting, but with a crossbow he can participate!

The younger we hook the youth on hunting the better chance we have of keeping them hooked.

Ths happened in our youth weekend that goes on the weekend before our archery opener.

Grant could have chose just about any hunting tool he wanted to hunt with...slug gun, muzzleloader, vertical bow, hangun, pistol catridge rifle or a crossbow. All are legal during youth weekend. He chose a crossbow..
