O/T CHEAPEST GAS PRICE

Post by Grizzly Adam »

What's the cheapest price you remember folks paying for gas?

Let's tell on ourselves (age-wise)! :D

I'll start off:

Forty-five cents a gallon, at Deitrich Oil company.

Been a while!

How 'bout y'all? :D

Grizz . . .yes, I remember those days too. Mid 70's . . .then Jimmy Carter came to town in 1977. . . .went from pennies a gallon to dollars and hasn't stopped. Every few years we have a leap.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

29.9 a gallon.

Remember it well. Golf Oil station in Brady, Tx. Most we could ever get in the old pickup was just over five bucks worth. And my dad used to "cuss" the oil companies for gouging us when we did get five bucks in that old truck.

I am not "old" by any means but I remember when it hit $0.50/L in southern Ontario. Dad got rid of the 76 Cutlass not long after, ha ha.

29 cents a gallon, long before we went to litres in Canada, and they cleaned your windshield and checked your oil.

When I was 17 years old I pumped gas,yes I pumped gas for the Holliday Gas Station in Prarie Du Chien Wi. in 1969 and we sold gas for 23 cents a gallon and I worked there and with my discount I bought it for 19 cents, and on tuesdays and thursdays you got double stamps, and you could buy a Ford Mustang for $1700.00 bran new. I got $2.45 and hour ,life was great. And I think I had more then than I due now. Where did it all go? Jerry

gas

In 1965 when I was 16, my buddies and I would pitch in a quarter each and get $1 worth of gas. We could ride around all Friday night and have gas left. A new Spur Oil station opened and had gas for 25 cents for the first 2 weeks. In 1971 when I started my first real job, Regular was 31.9 and Premium (Ethyl) was 33.9. In 1975 a man from Atlanta was in Alabama where I worked and said gas was 50 cents a gallon. We said gas would NEVER be that much in Alabama. And to think, now we are glad to find it for less than $3.50.

"This Old Fart" bought Regular at Hudson Oil Station in Wichita, Kansas for .13 cents a gal(Gas War) in 1963. Was .28 when no Gas War. Was a Airman Second Class making $90.00 a Month. As far as being an 'Old Fart' I still fish 2 Bass Tournaments a week and got a doe Friday. I will be 65 on the 20th of this month.
