Ordered a PCP air rifle
Been drooling over PCPs for several years now, but my lack of knowlege as to nesessary accessories, etc. has kept me from buying one. I did some online shopping and decided to try the new Benjamin Discovery.
I called before I ordered and had a few questions (like is the pump compatable with higher pressure guns) answered before I broke down and ordered, but I finally ordered one in .22 cal.
All the reviews indicate good accuracy (¼" groups at 25 yards) and I have a new heavy duty mount and air rifle scope I had ordered for my RWS recently.
The person I talked to indicated it would be suitable for game up to the size of raccoon, so I may become a small game hunter again. Might even try carrying it along on my trapline to dispatch smaller critters like skunks, raccoons, opossums, mink, etc.

wabi before you actually "hunt" with it you might check with the odnr I did a few years back and they told me it was not legal in ohio to hunt with an air rifle because it did not meat the legal definition of a firearm in ohio, now that may have changed since then and I hope it has but you may want to give them a call just to be on the safe side. Yah the dang Don almost got me on that Talon SS but at the last minute I got control and haven't ordered one yet. Why is it that there is so much to buy and so little money to buy it with? Oh yah I forgot - just put it on plastic and don't worry about it. That's the great Amerkan way I guess.
I saving cash to go to vet convention in Orlando in January otherwise I would have got a Talon.
Hey Don can I borrow some bucks?
PS Now that I thought about it that hand pump is "clearly" good cardiovascular exercise! "Clearly" a medical expense!

Oh yes Mike! That was one of my choices. The only thing I don't like about my Condor is that is is not a stable platform to shoot with. Although I can take a sparrow out at 25 yards shooting free hand the ergonomics are not conducive to building confidence. I am sure that the new Discovery is going to be a better shooter. You also have a pressure gage and a gun that apparently has longer shot to shot consistency from what I've read. Many good reasons for buying the gun you got! Now you have to find a pellet that works best.
Have fun!

Guys, I've fooled around w/ air rifles a lot. I'm not easily impressed. I was into the spring guns for the most part, guy named Tom Gaylord wrote a book and some other stuff, a man I deeply respected. He advised some where that Crosman Premiers were an amazing pellet and shot great in almost any air rifle. I got some for 2 or 3 different calibers and found it true. I had to order them from a BB gun store in Montezuma, Ia, but think they sold out to Pyramid Air. The one thing I do recall, the .20 cal and .22 cal weighed the same, 14.3 gr.
I had a Sheridan w/ scope for grand kids, tried the Premiers in it and got one small hole groups at 10m. Had a Weirauch 97K from Beemans, 780 fps w/ these in .20 cal, .078" C-T-C at 10m for 5 shots.
You may want to give them a try.
Forgot to add Congrats Wabi! Bet you get a charge out of it, lol.

Pellets are what got this started.
My neighbor gave me a box of .22 pellets, and I didn't have a .22 airgun, so the only logical choice was to buy one!

I'm negotiating a contract to provide medical and surgical care to a large petshops' puppies and birds. If I get the contract I'll be having a Condor and a Talon with the dang nitrogen tank to recharge them. Of course I never ever get any cream in my life. It's just struggle to get by day to day, week by week and etc. Ever been there? LOL

Seems like the "feast or famine" rule holds true for a lot of small business owners. Last winter/spring about the only work I had was emergency calls, but this summer things improved a bit.Boo wrote:Us small business owners live on the edge of a cliff everyday of the week.DrDan wrote:Don...
