Youth season in Ky

Post by opossum »

I took one of my buddies sons while he took the other one Saturday. The ten year old that was with his dad got a small doe with a 243 at 20 yards Saturday morning.Myself and the 11 year old only saw 1 that morning with no shot .He told me he had never killed anything but his brother had killed a bird and now a deer.I had a 22 rifle in the truck so I took him squirrel hunting after lunch. He got a red squirrel. We headed to the stand around 3:30.We were about 75 yards from the stand when I saw a deer about 30 yards from us.We were busted so I turned sideways and tried to support the rifle with my hands. He had 1 shot between 2 trees. He was really shaking with excitment and so was I.I told to take the shot when he was ready. He killed his first tree.We saw nothing else that evening. It sure was fun .Next year it will be my son with me.

Of all the posts on this forum, the ones about getting the kids out into the woods are my favourite!
