Buck Bombs worth every penny so far.....

Post by ecoaster »

Finally got enough time off work to sneak out for a sit this weekend. Spent most of Aug/Sept trying to track down some of these Buck Bombs, and I'm glad I did. I laid some down (young buck) around my tree stand and just before dark I heard some deer coming. A doe and a fawn came in real slow, looking for the buck they smelled. They hung around the spot I sprayed for a good 10-15 minutes, offering me many chances to let one fly, but I heard a 3rd deer hanging back, so I let them walk. The third deer was another fawn, but again it hung around for quite some time before moving off.

No buck shot over the scent, but the deer sure did find it interesting and they never winded me only 12 steps away. :D
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

I bought one of the Scent Shield automatic scent dispensers, works like one of those bathroom air fresheners. It dispenses a burst of scent at 8, 15, 30 minute intervals. Will have to give it a try next time out to see if it draws anything in.

Great to hear of your experience ecoaster!

I ordered some estrous doe bombs this year to try out closer to rut. I haven't been able to get out yet. This fall is looking like another busy one with elderly parents on both sides having some major things going on that we need to be involved with. So with little time to hunt, I'm hoping that these bombs will help bring 'em in.

Keep us posted on how they work for you!

There are guys who swear by Tinks but it's never worked for me. Code Blue seemed to attract more attention. I don't know if it's reason or chance?

Rich, I have one of those, we were given one at the Buckmaster hunt in Va last year. This is the one that I have but I can get the refills much cheaper from the Va distributor.

Maybe call ahead and make sure they have some or can order some for you.
I paid about $10 per can, I think?

Haven't seen them in any of our local Wal-Marts or CTs (yet). Let me know if anyone sees them at either in the KW area!

Walmart in Bellville, ON has them at 10 bucks a can. I haven't seen any at the Walmarts here in Ottawa.
Take it easy.
