Bass Pro. I know we've been down this road but need to vent

Post by Sandman »

Hi all,

If your reading and dont want to hear this again just jump back to the thread topics or if you want the opportunity to say "I told you so" read on.

I dont normally wade into this type of thread but I need to vent.

Looking at the BP flyer "Sale Dates - Oct 13 - Nov 4" I see that they had the API 20' Stakin' Stik on for $59.94. I have a stand that I would like to put up and need the climbing stiks to do so. I thought that the price was okay so on Tuesday I dropped by at 9:00 am and could not find the item on the floor. After waiting and not finding any help I had to get to a meeting so I left empty handed.
On Wednesday at around 4 pm I called BP and asked about the item and the customer service person I spoke with said that they just received a shipment and there were lots. I asked if I should come in before they close or could I be there in the am (MY FAULT FOR NOT GOING IN I GUESS). I was told that the am would be fine.

Well this morning I headed into London and was at work for 5 am and worked til 7. I left the office and headed to BP arriving just after opening. I searched and could not find the product so I enlisted the aid of the staff. "The computer says we have 6". Great........Right?....Wrong~!
After about a 45 minute wait and searching I was told that there were none left. Man I was a little ticked and I also noticed that there were no empty displays on the floor like I had seen for other products??? I thought that was odd for an item that was on sale? I noticed empty displays for other on sale products in the flyer as well~!

I asked about a rain check and was told NO. I explained the situation to the staff member but "there was nothing they could do".

Dont get me wrong the staff members I dealt with were great and that is not my beef at all~!

Well with that I left BP and drove another 40 minutes to Gagnons in the Shwaa and spent my money there because I refused to spend it at BP.

Thanks for letting me vent~!
Just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats,
Robin

PS - I FOUND BUCK BOMBS AT GAGNONS AS WELL~!

i know how you feel we have one here in savannah, and everytime i think that they will have what i need in the store is a big fat no. i am going by tomorrow after work and i hope that they have the scope rings and scope mount that i need for my excalibur. if not thens its back to bj and dan miller for the ordering again. i rather spend my money some where else and get great service than being let down from a big hunting store.

Here in MI its about the same thing even with Cabela. However, because those stores are so far, I order from Cabela and only one time have I had a problem with them. That was taken care of later so my hat's off to them. But the store in MI really sucks.
Keep smiling!

i very seldom ever buy at Bass Pro, i usually can get it at sportsmanwarehouse cheaper and they have it. these big stores have gotten to where they don't give a rats A about working ppl. they want to cater to the big money ppl

the problem is its like walmart in there.. everyone see's a sale and rushes there so i doubt they can keep anything in stock. The new one just opened hre and you cant even get into the place much less actaully look at anything without being walked over.

I go there if I need it then, but I normally find the same things cheaper on ebay and just wait 3-4 days to get them

I agree with you Sandman and no problem venting. I do like the fact that Bass Pro has made hunting and fishing much more mainstream IMO. People had no idea that this many people still hunt in Ontario. I think the sport is growing because of BP and Wild TV. More young people are talking about hunting and fishing.

P.S. I've heard they have limited stock on the really good sales. Things like muzzleloaders that are on for a great price.
If you're not part of the solution, you might be part of the problem.

I stopped by Gander Mountain last night on the way to my gig and looked around at broadheads.I see a display for turkey hunting books and magazines for the up coming spring season.
I didn't look at the magazine cover to much, it said TURKEY HUNTING EQUIPMENT.I grabbed it, bagged it, and was on my way.
I took it out this morning to look at it,It's a 2008 spring gear guide,it should have been OFF THE SHELVES IN MAY,5 months ago.
They tricked me.It's going back. &%%#$& *&*^#$@##$$%B((&%#$@#

Had a similar experience with C.Tire. Waited almost 1hr for them to locate the 5 mystery generators in their computer, with no luck. The staff phone 4 other stores and found two in Hamilton. They actually went and laid eyes on them. GREAT. This was around 8:30pm and I had been working since 6am. I asked if I they could put my name on one and I could pick it up in the morning. NOPE! I then asked if they thought they would sell both generators by closing time (1/2hr). It was not a sale item. I was so pissed at the lack of "customer service", that I stopped at Home Depot on the way home and bought one for $100 more.

I hope those two generators are still taking up floor space and collecting dust at C.Tire  .
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

Could you imagine ever going shopping at an outdoors store with "enough cash"? Image
