i was going for 168gr slugs to bring the weight up to my 2117's i just built but forgot bout needing to grind down the threads to fit the I.D. of the firebolts....they started at 175grs at 1 1/2", but after trimming to fit  ....so i wound up with 530gr firebolts and 560gr 2117's, shouldn't be to far off from each other in fps and drop..........bob

Sorry I'm new - so please pardon the question - but:

Why are you going for that much fp for deer?

I am running 125 gr Slick Tricks in front of brass inserts in my Laser IIs out of my Max. If I hit the shoulder blade flush, spine or major leg bone is about the only time I could imagine this set up stopping inside even a moose at most ethical ranges.

Just wondering if there is something I am missing.

Argee with fish...I', shooting 405 GT Lazers with 110 brass inserts, Blazers and 100 gr slicks. Work great from the Phoenix and Vortex. Gives me +20% FOC and 320 fps out of the Vortex. 50 yard hits are possible.

my 375 bolts do that just fine... its no reason anyone needs to go over 420 grains on deer.. 530 is overkilll.. deadly combo, but its overkill to me:)

I would say its gonna shoot about 278-282fps with the FFF string

from 20-50 yards its gonna be a quick drop, but as long as your sights are adjusted its no big deal 8)

goodluck with that combo

had my chorny trip yesterday and came in with 287fps with the 530gr firebolts and 282fps with the 560gr 2117 arrows....one thing i couln't find out was the difference between the ff string and boo's string is that the threaded rod inserts i glued in didn't stay in on the 4th shot with the carbon or alum arrows....shot them out the nock end of the arrows, found the slug from the 2117 and the nock to the firebolt....i used hotmelt on the 2117 and CA glue for the carbon....so it wasn't the glue issue on either one....the firebolt flew at 313fps when the slug and nock came out as i fired and the 2117 went down range before it popped apart and the slug came rolling back and stopped at my foot....guess i'm gonna need stronger glue....i went with the slugs as i couldn't find brass inserts to fit the 2117's in time..............bob

not missing nothing....i couldn't get my 150gr boltcutters that came with the kit to fly to POA with the firebolts at 400gr total arrow weight....so i did some expermitation with what i had on hand....i was going to go to 125gr slick tricks anyway..............bob

Remember that the threaded rods must stay/remain concentric with the arrow or there will be accuracy/consistency/repeatibilty problems 8)
well the sho-goo blew out on the first shot....the threaded rod is sized to just fit inside the arrow shaft so there is no side to side play when glued....it looks like i'll be going with 2219 shafts that i know i can get brass inserts for....i was trying to use arrow shafts i had on hand.........bob
